Chemung River Friends have been a part of the Coalition for over a decade, so we figured this was a great time to highlight our long-time N.Y member. The Chemung River (/ ʃ ə ˈ m ʌ ŋ / shə-MUNG) is a tributary of the Susquehanna River, approximately 46.4 miles (74.7 km) long, in south central New York and northern Pennsylvania in the United States. Partnering with municipalities to protect our local waterways, they also work to make our local rivers easier, safer, and more fun to use and enjoy. The camaraderie and sense of “we are all on this paddle trip together” unity is refreshing and important in achieving our goals. We obtain grants and private funding to purchase river rescue boats, motors, trailers, rescue mannequins and cold water rescue suites.
