James Morley, 73, of Newtown, operating a 2016 Mercedez-Benz, was in the same lot. The accident occurred when a vehicle driving west bound on Centre Avenue made a left onto southbound State Street. The vehicle was towed. Police say while putting down his cell phone, Saunders vehicle drifted right and struck a fire hydrant, knocking the hydrant over. Police reports for January 26 through February 6, 2023. Newtown Police report Omar Yunes, 21, of Sandy Hook, was arrested at 12:50 pm February 6 on the charge of second-degree sexual assault. Newtown Police report James McMahon, 16, of Sandy Hook, was turning left out of the Blue Colony Diner parking lot in the westbound lane on Church Hill Road at 10:18 am January 26.
